It was an eye-opening experience my staying and working here for a week

Sometime along the way, or much later, probably, I kinda realized that I had this prejudice over labor-jobs (even though Ann quite didn't agree that it was anywhere near manual labor, but certainly I felt it so!), and I'm so grateful I could have this chance to recognize it..

She has been so patient with me, now I know in hindsight... thanks =)

June holiday in Las Alpujarras 2010

A great holiday .

Two weeks of Anns care and meeting lots of very nice people. Anns Very relaxed atmosphere. Lots of places to visit and lots of local walks etc, you must go on Sues herb walk and also the bird watching walk. After a day sightseeing a dip in the pool followed with one of Anns fine meals is a must.

The views from La Casa De... is breath taking. My husband and I are retired but there are plenty of suitable walks and things to do. A visit to Lanarron town . Have a drink in the Gekko and visit Isabellas store for almost anything you may need.Thankyou Ann for a super holiday.

Mollie and Mel xxx

Water Fiestas in Lanjaron, Good food & Dreamful atmosphere

Here's the review from a young italian long term traveller! I planned to stay in Lanjaron no more than 2 weeks, been working at the beautiful and idyllic ranch of Caballo Blanco, then had the good fortune to have an exchange at LA CASA DEL VIENTO where I eventually decided that I couldnt leave too soon!

So here I am, after other three weeks in Lanjaron, writing about one of my best volunteering experience ever! LA CASA DEL VIENTO is a really different place respect any other accomodations place: it's not only about Good food (Ann is a fantastic cook), beautiful accomodations room, services, and swimming pool, it is also about sharing, soul warming people and hospitality, meeting new friends, chill out, or just living peacefully in a dreamful and rural athmosphere.

The view from La Casa is breathless, and what makes everything even more thrilling is the spanish ambient in the town, especially in fiestas time: spanish approach life with such exuberance that just when you think you are commiting to terms with their pace, you are surrounded by the beating drums of a new fiesta with day and night disappearing into a blur of dancing eating and drinking. The water run was amazing, something I'll never forget! Thanks Ann for hosting me and looked after me as if I were one of the family! :)

The set-up could not be much better: quiet, relaxing, great food, great views, and an awesome freshwater swimming pool. Anne's hospitality cannot be faulted, I hope to return again soon.

Jodie Cooling - HEN DO

I am due to marry in 5 weeks from now and my bridesmaids organised a Hen weekend to remember. A total suprise I was told on the thursday night that at 9 am the next morning 8 of us would be flying out to Andalucia to ride for the weekend! Ali, Jane, Ann and Sarah looked after us fantastically!

Extremely welcoming and friendly they taxied us from the airport up a steep winding mountain road to our perfectly spanish accomodation. The next day it was the ride...4 of us embarked on a 4 hour trek on 4 fantastic horses! When i was told my steed was the fidgity one i knew i was in for an exciting ride and Domingo gave me just that! With the eagerness of a bull in a china shop we bounced up the mountain and all the way back down whilst the others steadily followed on.

Jane knew the routes well and the Mule Tracks were particularly steep in places. One thing i will say is that these horses sure know what they are doing and not once did they falt er. The next day 2 of the other 'non horse riding' girls joined usfor a 1 hour ride. With very little experience they were teamed with Molly and Bruno who knew their job and who safely and willingly took Mum and Lydi for a first timje experience of which they both thoroughly enjoyed.
I cannot reccommend the trip highly enough!

Thanks!

Ann greets you like long lost friends, couldn't be more welcoming. We stayed for a weeks walking (which also included mountaineering although we didn't know that at the time) in Oct.2009. At the end of a hard day it was lovely to come back to the pool and bar ! Ann will probably remember us best as the couple who took four hours trying to find her place on returning from the tapas bars of Lanjaron. Even though she had left her lights on to guide us home we still managed to get hopelessly lost on the mountainside. Would love to return one day, would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
fond memories Alan & Tony
